What are title deeds?

Title deeds are the legal documents that show and prove ownership in respect of any type of building or land. Title deeds are also known as Deeds of Transfer or Certificates of Registered Titles. It is any legal instrument in writing which passes, affirms or confirms an interest, right, or property and that is signed, attested, delivered, and in some jurisdictions, sealed.

The purpose of the Deeds Office is to offer the following services and to register the following types of deeds:

  • deed to transfer;
  • deed of grant;
  • certificate of state
  • deed of partition title
  • deeds of rectification transfer
  • deeds of exchange
  • substituted titles
  • certificate of registered title
